Ron has over 40 years of experience in business, finance, investments, mortgage banking, and real estate. He has structured and negotiated a wide variety of complex transactions including business and industry sales as well as commercial and residential real estate. He has been active in the real estate business since 1989 and is an Associate Broker and co-owner of Patriot Realty.
In addition to his business interests, Ron was an assistant professor of business at Alma College from 2001-2015 where he taught finance, strategic management, and investments. He received his bachelor of science degree in business summa cum laude from Aquinas College and his MBA from Western Michigan University.
Ron is chair member of the City of Grand Rapids Board of Review. He is a former member of the Professional Standards Committee of the Greater Regional Alliance of Realtors and past chair of the association’s Grievance Committee and Finance Committee. He has served as a member of many civic and community organizations including the City of Kentwood Planning Commission, the City of Kentwood Zoning Commission, the City of Grand Rapids General Pension Board, the City of Grand Rapids Police and Fire Pension Board, and is past vice president of the Grand Rapids Community College Foundation. He is a former on-air business and economic analyst for WOOD TV-8 and columnist for the Grand Rapids Business Journal.
Ron is an on-air programmer (The Professor) for 881.FM–WYCE and serves as a Community Volunteer for the Grand Rapids Police Department, and is a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for CASA Kent County.
Ron and his wife, Jeannine, live in Grand Rapids and own a cottage on Pickerel Lake in Newaygo County.
